I was told Sheila walked away from 5 Nevada City houses. The Grove Street house was in the foreclosure notices a few weeks ago, and today The Onion printed a second foreclosure -- her house on Pine Street. Almost $800,000 was owed on that one. I always liked Sheila, but it sure seemed like she left town in a hurry...this may be why. Just another victim of the real estate market going to Hell in a handbasket. Sad.
As a former member of the NC social colony who as some have said "left town in the middle of the night" I take some exception to the suggestion that Sheila left town to in some way to avoid financial acountability.
I was only an aquaintance of Sheila not a friend but it always seemed as if half the town fawned over her when she was present and yet...
No one really knows how long she had planned to make this move and bad real estate market or not it's unfortunate mostly for her, but so what.
As I learned sometimes in a small town friends often don't understand motivations for leaving so preanouncing ones intentions well ahead of time is not a formula for harmony. People have jobs and coworkers, other friends, responsiblities that damn it all sometimes need to subordinate to lifes journey.
As for me I made some great friends and memories in NC, miss them and wish them all well... But had to go...didn't really want to but... There is a difference between running away from something and running toward it.
Good Luck Sheila! Hope it works out really really good for you!
Adios!

No wonder she skipped town for the UK!
