They're going to put the coffee bar where the Chinese food is now, and the Chinese food will become self serve. They're also changing their wine tasting to Fridays at 5. Raleys wine tasting is the bargain of the century. Cost: $3, but it really is free because you get a $3 coupon off any wine in the store. And, they serve food for free! Check it out.
There's a rumor around town that Weaver Auto is closing, so I called Tom Weaver to check it out. Totally false, Tom says. He says the car business is hurting along with everything else in this economy, but he is here for the long haul. Tom is a great guy.
Oh no! another "corporate" coffee shop...but they are delicious -- they'll get my bucks....thank goodness Raley's doesn't have to get approval from Nevada City on that one....have you found out whose going into SavMart's former Starbucks space??

Peet's is a good outfit. Sure hope they sell their full line of roasts and can grind to customer specifications. It would be nice if they did on-site roasting as well.

Yes for Peet's. I remember the first store in Berkeley, on an obscure corner near Shattuck and Vine. Everybody thought he was nuts, 50 years ago. Even in Berkeley, the local conservative paper, which I delivered, thought he was nuts. The Berkeley Gazette, AKA, the "GasJet"
