So, I had left my phone number for the Bee circulation manager to call. He didn't, but 2 people called from Foothill News Inc., the Nevada County distributer. Bruce Lane, the president of Foothill, told me that The bee will still be delivered in Grass Valley and Nevada City. I asked why their OWN circulation department didn't know that? He was surprised. He said The Bee was discontinuing service to North San Juan, Camptonville, Downieville, Sierra City and Bassett's Station. Maybe someone was confused?
Today, with our copy of The Bee, was a letter from Bruce Lane. This letter explains that the previous letter was IN ERROR. The letter goes on to say, "If you call The Bee's Customer Service number they may STILL confirm the contents of the first letter and INSIST that your service will not continue after this month. DO NOT BELIEVE THEM!"
Is that amazing??? So, do I believe The Bee's own customer service rep, or Bruce Lane? And how could something like this happen? Wow!
Well..today is Nov. 3rd and I'm still getting The Bee. Are you?

The Bee has laid off a lot of employees, everyone, like it or not, has to buy their papers from a stand, or store.

I think we have to remember that when the pulp papers start diving for the mud, it's not going to be straight down, but they'll throw in some spins and loops. For the record, our beloved Onion is still delivered on Cement Hill even though some of the sections have gone on a diet, and the whole thing has become narrower. You think they could just make it four and half inches wide, and kinda roll it up convenient like?

Guess we'll have to wait til the other shoe drops. All I know is that yesterday while speaking with an intelligent sounding senior level SAC Bee rep he said the closest route would be Auburn and that Nevada City wasn't part of it. November 1st is only 2 weeks away. Wonder if it'll be the left or the right one.... sounds like chaos at The Bee.
