On Twitter.com you can find me as dixiefix. Over the weekend a local meterologist (spelled wrong) was giving updates frequently...Zuri Berry was flying back from Brazil...Aaron Klein was giving up to the minute comments on the state budget impasse...and Ashton Kutcher was walking his 3 dogs with Demi. The updates are only 140 characters so it's short and sweet when you Tweet!
About the fact we STILL don't have a budget in California...isn't that what these people were elected to do??? Does that make you mad? It makes me mad..that and Madoff sitting in his zillion dollar apartment on "house arrest." If that were you or I, we'd be in Rikers in a heartbeat.
You can watch Tuesday night's planning commission meeting on NCTV if you have Comcast. See what they do with the "work stoppage" of the Walgreens building. I think that's a pretty arrogant stance the builder is taking -- that and hiring outside contractors to do all the work. Walgreens is a HUGE corporation...is it going to hurt them to build 2 800 sq. foot buildings?
The two 800 sq. ft. buildings were proposed by the Walgreens developer instead of building us a nice project like other Walgreens has done in some other towns. This is a big time real estate development company that is based in Chicago. Pleaee go to their website at www.visionrp.com. "Vision Reality Partners" is also "Interra-Vision Development", they are the same company.
Just review the website sections "Recent Acquisitions", "About Us" and "In The News" and see who we are dealing with.
This big development company has been building 100's of millions of dollars worth of development projects all over the country. But now they don't want to build the two 800 sq. ft. buildings because they are not pre-leased yet? What a load as new commercial/retail develoments are not 100% pre-leased. You get a lease for the anchor tenant and lease the other spaces out once built.
The large Walgreens building is pre-leased and provides the rental income for this project. If you want to lease the 800 sq. ft. buildings you need to build them first.
The City approved this poorly designed project but must still hold these out of state developers to the agreements and their approvals. These guys also broke their word to use locals to build the new project.
The City needs to stand up for what is right and not allow some big time developer from Chicago to screw us over. If they do, it's the Citys fault and we have no reason to ever trust the City in the future.
If the City doesn't hold these guys accountable to the development agreements how the heck can we trust the City to hold the Idaho Maryland Mine accountable if ever approved?
