George says its because the City Council cut the "finance oversight committee" and there is no oversight. Ex councilwoman Sheila Stein was with Foster ( and others) TONIGHT -- Friday -- and would have a statement tomorrow, before she goes back to the UK. What does this mean? Is it significant? Weigh in...
Steve,
Yes, Sheila moved to the UK, then moved back to the Lake Tahoe area and has left again, back to the UK. There seem to be perpetual goodbye parties for her!

What does the council have to hide from us? Scary.

Sheila Stein? Didn't she resign from the Council and leave town with a number of houses going into forclosure?

I have known George Foster for a long time, and he always asked the hard question, and the answers were not real obvious. You had to dig down through several layers to get to the real answer. Second and third level analysis is hard. The liberal Council liked the easy answers, the feeling answers, and when George insisted on the hard core factual answers they get real uncomfortable. My guess is that the liberal council got tired of answering George's hard questions. Did they want to go back to making feel good decisions, like increasing the retirement benefits with out realizing the long term cost to the City and to future tax payers. They did not understand the PERS retirement systems like George did. He has a breath taking analysis of the consequences of some of these uninformed decisions by the Council. Did the Council wanted George and the Finance Committee to stop turning over the rocks of past decisions, exposing the moist slipper undersides, and applying what was learned to future decisions. There is going to be a lot more to learn in the coming weeks.
