We can all save money in various ways. When I worked for the Big Newspaper in Orange County I used Lancome to wash my face ($19). Then I came to Nevada County and bought organic face wash from the health food store ($12.95) Now that I'm not working, I'm using Lennie's Green Blessings organic goat's milk soap ($3). It all seems to work about the same, really.
So we noticed that 90 pound Jackson (Golden Retriever) needed a bath from all the frolicking in the winter weather. Old way: Take him to the groomer. New Way: Take him to the bathe-the-dog yourself groomer. Old Way -- $50. New Way -- $15. Was it easy? Sort of. I sure wouldn't want all that dog hair going down my drain! And, they furnish aprons, shampoo, towels, blow dryer, combs, the works. I didn't realize I would still get soaked under the rubber apron, but next time I'll be better prepared and bring an extra sweatshirt or something. Jackson's doggie friend Jenna came along to watch and got her nails clipped ($5).
How about renting movies? Blockbuster -- $4 plus. Red Box at the grocery store, $1. Borrow from library -- free!
It seems that just about everything I do has a cost-effective alternative if I give it a little thought!
Oh Tom, you're so sweet! And so is the appetizer queen!!
