A friend e-mailed this to me:
In Nevada County it is illegal for a dog to bark for more than 20 minutes. To get help the complainant must keep an official log of bark times which can be obtained from Nevada County Sheriff's Animal Control Division. Then a formal complaint letter (also available same source) must be sent in with the log. Then a man with a badge and gun calls on the dog's owner. I've done this and it solves the problem.

Jan Nottingham tells me that one of the dolls that was to be auctioned off last week at the annual Kiwanis Doll Auction was stolen from the Miners Foundry. Can you believe that?! Jan says it was "Barry Bigfoot" and if you were there you probably remember it as very wooley! I don't think "Bigfoot" walked away of his own accord, do you? How low is it to steal a handmade doll that was being auctioned off for charity? It can be returned to the Foundry, no questions asked. That is very bad karma to steal from a fundraiser!!

Did you know the adults have taken over Facebook? (There are some parents & kids on there..one of my friends leaves a Facebook message to her teenage son to get him to come out of his room.) Anyway it's easy to set up and let's you communicate with a lot of people in an easy format. My 5th grade "boyfriend" found me as well as a couple reporters I managed more than 20 years ago. If you join, you will be amazed at how many people you know who are on it! And it's not a terrible time sink if you don't get carried away.I never would have done it but a friend talked me into it and it's fun!

Went to an old-fashioned "Game Night" earlier this week. It reminded me that this economic crisis is bringing us all back to basics. We had a great time playing Mexican Train and talking and laughing and it was lovely entertainment! And free to boot.
Just to be clear, I wouldn't turn them in. I have an uncanny ability to tune most barking out. It's the yipping that can wear on me. :)

They better warm up the Doggie Penitentiary. I know a lot of dogs who bark for more than 20 minutes.
Does the ordinance have a maximum interval between barks before the 20 minute clock resets? :)
