Burch Hall Winery in Grass Valley is leaving, but another tenant has already stepped up. A store that sells only bamboo. Cool, huh? Bamboo socks are the greatest!
Culture Shock, the GV yogurt shop, has a little hurdle with the city before they can open, Hopefully soon!
The Fix, a raw food restaurant, is opening in the horse barn next to the New Moon parking lot in Nevada City. In case you think it's just salads, think again: pizza, tacos, cakes, pastries. The 20-something who will run it, Evan Strong, has a fascinating story. Can't wait to try it. He'll also have macrobiotic food.
I hear someone bought The Five Mile House in bankruptcy and plans to open it as a restaurant. Just rumor at this point.
My neighbor Matt Margulies is getting ready to open Matteo's Public, where the Country Rose used to be. He's got some great ideas for the place and is doing everything possible local and sustainable! Way to go Matt!
Went to the Chamber Mixer at The Miners Foundry Thursday night. Got to meet frequent blog commenter Douglas Keatchie! Always fun to meet people in person. He's a dog guy, too.

The name is pronounced as if there was a "t" in it, but there isn't.
cheers,
Doug
PS, I realized the picture you saw of me with my dogs was taken two years ago, and I've put on 20 lbs (which I am now about to take off) so that's the reason for the temporary disconnect. Plus, I wasn't spiffed up, was there for music lesson, didn't know about mixer.
