There is an excitement in the air as Nevada City begins to blossom again. The sign is up at the old Broad Street Furnishings that California Organics is coming in with its restaurant and health food store. That will be a great boon to downtown, and I understand Chris the owner will offer consierge service so you can just pick up your groceries without having to park -- or shop and pick them up later when you leave town.
Work is continuing on Pine Street where the market used to be. The Nevada City Seafood Co. will occupy the left side, and there are rumors the bigger side would be a food mercantile.
Matt is working furiously on Matteo's Public and there should be a soft opening shortly. (Across from Friar Tucks)
Looks like the Fur Traders decided to say, despite some wooing from the city of Grass Valley.
The Fix, raw food restaurant in the horse barn next to New Moon should open soon. Its boutique, 33 Degree, is already open.
And the candy/ice cream store re-opened almost as son as the old store closed. It's so great for tourists to be able to get ice cream.
Sandy B's on upper Broad is now the cool place for haircuts and manicures.
The merchants are doing a good job of filling the empty store windows, too.
These are all encouraging signs that the local economy may be looking up.
but the parking still s_cks!! so not sure how often i'll be in NCity....
