There were more than 100 people lined up this morning to see the match between the 2 female mayors -- Lisa Swarthout of Grass Valley and Reinette Senum of Nevada City. Lisa won 2 of the 3 tosses, giving the trophy to Grass Valley for the second year in a row.
Kiwanis incoming president and long-suffering husband of mine, Robert, won the Kiwanis/Rotary toss-off. Alan Rogers was tossing for Rotary, although he is a member of my club, Nevada City Rotary. Rumor has it that no one from Grass Valley Rotary wanted to participate. Could that be true?
There was a little excitement when a Bay Area man fainted from the heat. He left in an ambulance and seemed OK.
The dogs (Jackson among them) had a blast cleaning up the parking lot, because the pasties were filled with dog food! So, A good time was had by all!!!
I thought the trophy said Mark Johnson won. Did I look at the wrong year? Sorry, Nevada City!

Hi Dixie,
Just a reminder that Nevada City won the pasty toss last year. It was very polite and appropriate for Reinette to graciously lose to GV this year. It is their event, after all. ;-)
Congratulations to Lisa!
