Parade Dust Up:
R.L. Crabb told me he was at the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce office on Monday morning when an irate caller started complaining about the "Gay Pride" entry in the parade. I didn't know there was one (although it doesn't surprise me) because when you are in the parade, you don't *see* the parade. The Marching Presidents were #50 out of I don't know how many! Anyway, this person was livid and had called the chamber's director at home to complain. It is still a free country last I heard, and nobody has to love every entry in the parade. My 2 cents.
Weaver Auto Debacle:
I guess since a Florida bank owns Weaver Auto, no one cares what happens to it, but it makes me sick to see that beautiful landscaping die. Can't anyone (city of Grass Valley maybe?) water that property? And if no one is going to water, why not let people come and dig up the plants? There is some lovely Heavenly Bamboo and literally thousands of plants there. Isn't there a solution?
How about having the fire department do a few drills there?

That should have been... visit the NCTV website, not the NCTC website... unless you want to find out more about the Nevada County Transportation Commission.

Dixie.... Weaver Auto?
I have recently been to two GV City Council meetings and have begged the City Council to address all the dead and dying landscaping at the former Weaver Auto. Visit the NCTC website and view the GV City Council meetings for Aug. 11th and Sept. 8th where I talked about the issue and begged for help.
As I have told the City Council, most the plantings are dead and brown, hard to miss as one just needs to look while driving past the site on Highway 49.
As I told the City Council, I have been hauling water to the site in 55 gallon drums and I have been hand watering the remaining live trees and larger shrubs with a bucket. I'm trying to save the last of the trees.
I checked the current owner information and Matt and Tom Weaver are still the owner of record. Why did they let this happen?
As I explained to the Council, the PG&E has been shut off long ago and thus the landscape watering timers and system have been off for a long time too, along with the fire alarm and security alarm systems.
This didn't need to happen. The City should not have had let this happen and this was foreseeable. It’s tragic for so many reasons and the City has not taking action and the City has not responded to my requests to help keep the remaining trees and landscaping alive.
I continue to haul water to the site and would sure like some help. Mean time the Mayor and most of the Grass Valley City Council are in the bay area for a three-day conference.
