Cornish Choir to Perform Christmas Eve Afternoon at Kane's

This is a free event, sponsored by KNCO. Not only will the current choir perform, but we have an original recording of the Choir from the 30s that we will play. This will really be a beautiful afternoon and get you into the holiday spirit. Kudos to Choir Director Eleanor Kenitzer!

Speaking of the Cornish Choir, they performed last night at the Miners Old-Timers Dinner at the Elks Lodge. It's always a fun event, and all the old miners (literally a dying breed) tell some stories of what went on in the mines. If you're a history buff like I am, this stuff is great!!

Look for the Bridge Street Society Regulars and Irregulars singing Christmas Carols at Victorian Christmas this Wednesday. We sing traditional and non-traditional...at the top of Broad Street. We'll be the ones with foil wrapped baked potatoes in our pockets, keeping us warm, just like the miners used to do.

Love this brisk, sunny weather....but we do need rain. Last year at the 2nd Victorian Christmas it was pouring!

Summer of Love at Off Broadstreet

The whole cast is terrific, the music wonderful...but Sue LeGate as Janis Joplin (and other 60s singers) is absolutely FANTASTIC!! She is great! It's as if she is channeling Janis. I don't know if she's a big fan of JJ, but she convinced me! And her Mama Cass Elliot impersonation had us laughing so hard we were crying. It's a must see, and if you miss it this time around watch for it. R.L. Crabb's poster is very cool, and a bargain at $5. See Crabb's artwork at the Nevada City Winery through the end of the month. Support local art and talent!

RIP Greg Gavin....

Greg Gavin died of a sudden heart attack this week at his home. He was well-known and respected, especially in the music community. He is survived by his wife, Laurel, and 2 adult daughters. Nevada County lost a wonderful musician and friend with Greg's passing. He was 55.
